The 10th anniversary of J Dilla’s death is almost upon us, and with the Dilla Weekend taking place in Miami over the next few days, a lot of Jay Dee tributes have popped up online this week. Here close friend J. Rocc and Karriem Wiggins recreate a couple of Dilla classic down in the Stones Throw dungeon.

Labcabincalifornia was the second album from The Pharcyde, and featured two of the finest beats J Dilla ever created in the shape of Runnin and Drop. It’s now 20 years old, and DJ Spinna is celebrating with this mix. Listen below.

The re-issue of A Tribe Called Quest classic People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm came out today, and amongst the many bits of press coverage is a snippet of a new, J Dilla produced single from Phife. We are proud to say we were lucky enough to see Phife Dawg perform this live in London last week, and it was dope. Watch the short clip below.

Stones Throw recently celebrated Cassette Store Day by releasing Champion Sounds B-Sides & Remixes, featuring reworkings of tracks from 2003’s epic pairing of J Dilla and Madlib, Champion Sound. This remix of Heavy from Madlib is nothing new, but those who have never heard it can stream it below.
Illa J – ‘Illa J’
J Dilla’s little bro has dropped his new self-titled album, with production from Potatohead People, and guest spots from Moka Only among others. Stream the whole thing below, then go buy it.
