We finally got our grimy little hands on the brilliant Czarface Every Hero Needs A Villain CD boxset this week, and it looks as good as it sounds. The album is officially now out, and the supreme team of 7L & Esoteric and Inspectah Deck are keeping the momentum going with a video for The Great (Czar Guitar), which you can watch below.

Kool Keith & L’Orange – ‘The Traveller’ feat. J-Live

Take one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time. Get them in the studio with one of the best producers to emerge in the last few years. Watch the magic happen. Thats roughly how we hope the newly-announced Time? Astonishing! album from Kool Keith and L’Orange was put together. Anyone who copped the Persona compilation album from Mello Music Group will have already heard them as a team, but this could be one epic album when it arrives. Black Milk is back with a new video, this time for Story And Her, from his brilliant If There’s A Hell Below project. If you’ve heard the album as many times as we have, you’ll be familiar with the track, but its nice to get some visuals too. Watch below.

Edo.G – ‘Afterwards’ album sampler

Boston legend Edo.G is gearing up for the release of new album Afterwards, which is a collaboration with production team Street Wyze, with this short but dope sampler. Take a listen below, and look out for the full version when it drops.

Shabaam Sahdeeq – ‘GMR’

Indie stalwart Shabaam Sahdeeq is back with this new joint, boasting cuts from DJ Eclipse and a beat from J57. With this much talent on offer, its a certified banger, and you can check it out below. If you are quick, you might also be able to cop a limited edition t-shirt featuring the artwork, designed and hand painted by Sahdeeq himself.

Byron The Aquarius – ‘J D I L L A WHAT UP DOE VOL.1’

You can never have too many J Dilla tributes, and this one from producer Byron The Aquarius is a particularly good specimen. Its 13 tracks of solid beats inspired by the much-missed Yancey boy, and you can stream and buy it below.

The Addicts – ‘Embedded’

The Addicts is a group out of Florida new on our radar, but with classic boom bap joints for days. Already being championed by DJ Premier and others, we look forward to hearing more from crew members Menace and Bliz when their This Is For Us album drops in August. In the meantime, watch the video for Embedded below.

Declaime – ‘Holly’ feat. Georgia Anne Muldrow

Declaime is back with new album Southside Story, and here drops a single in the form of new track Holly. The video uses blaxploitation clips and other bits of grimy footage to tell a classic tale of Hollywood filth, fitting nicely with the offbeat flows of the man they also call Dudley Perkins. Dayne Jordan – ‘In Progress’

DJ Jazzy Jeff has graced Dayne Jordan with another dope beat for In Progress, where the talented rapper gives us a (very) detailed history of his career progression so far. Its from his Memoirs of Dayne Jordan album coming soon, and you can listen below.

Slum Village – ‘Yes!’ album stream

After a string of singles, we now get to hear the entire new Slum Village album early, a week before it drops. We knew it had J Dilla beats, but not this many. Not that we are complaining about that.
