Lone Catalysts – ‘Age of Aquarian’
Dope Folk Records have dropped another lost jewel from Lone Catalysts (J Rawls and J Sands), and its an absolute banger. Its from the The Prequel 94-96 EP, which also features the previous tracks we reported on, Hot This Year/Rhyme & Uplift. J Rawls was one of the best producers from the late 90s indy area, and its a crying shame he’s not more active now. Listen below, and let us know what you think.
Wordsworth – ‘New Beginning’
The latest album from eMC is still on heavy rotation, but Wordsworth is already on to the next joint, this time a collaboration with Donel Smokes for an album named New Beginning. Watch below for the video for the lead single.
Edo.G – ‘Sorta Way’ (remix)
Boston legend Edo.G has dropped this new video for the DJ Shean remix of Sorta Way, one of the standout cuts from the recent Afterwords album with Street Wyze. Watch below, and let us know what you think.
Mr. Lif – ‘Terra Bella’
Indy legend Mr. Lif is back with a new project named Terra Bella, alongside Ayla Nereo and The Polish Ambassador. Guests on the album include Jurassic 5 stalwart Chali 2na and Zion I rapper Baba Zumbi, and it sounds kind of dope. Stream and download below, but do consider Mr. Lif’s plea for a donation. Its only right.
The Juice Crew reunite to perform ‘The Symphony’ live
Guilty Simpson – ‘Animal’
Stones Throw have very quietly dropped another new single from Guilty Simpson, following on from last month’s Vanguard Operation. Details about the new upcoming album with Katalyst are still thin on the ground, but its shaping up to be a good project from what we’ve heard so far. Listen to Animal on the link below.
Listen here.
K-Def – ‘The Turning Point’
Supreme beatmaker K-Def has released yet another quality instrumental album, packed with dope beats from his archives. It follows recent projects Quick Picks and Take 2, and you can listen to the new collection below. Our only negative comment about this and the other recent ones: K-Def, please get someone to do you some better artwork!
House Shoes – ‘Magic’ mix
Gangrene – ‘Reversals’
The release date for new Gangrene album You Disgust Me from Oh No and Alchemist is fast approaching, and they are keeping the hype moving with the dope new single Reversals. This time its Oh on the beat, and it sounds real nice. Good verse from Al too, showing just how much he’s grown as an emcee recently. Listen below, and pre-order the album here.
