The man officially known as Jamie Meline has achieved a lot since arriving on this planet some 40 years ago today. And to mark El-P’s birthday, DJ Elwood has given us all a gift; this incredible mix of classic beats, covering everything from those grimy Company Flow days, through the Def Jux era and right up to Run the Jewels. If this is what an El-P birthday sounds like, then we reckon he should definitely consider having another birthday next year.

Just when we thought DJ EFN had given us enough quality tracks in the last few weeks, he goes and drops another one. Paradise features Talib Kweli, Wrekonise and Reggie Noble himself, Redman. This, and the DJ Premier produced Who’s Crazy are taken from the upcoming Another Time album, out soon.

Arsonists crew members Jise and Freestyle have unleashed a banging new track named Fall, from Jise’s album The Passion of Jise album. The Arsonists were one of the most impressive groups from the late 90s golden era of independent hip-hop, and its great to see them still making quality music. We make no secret of how Madlib is one of our absolute heroes, and we’re confident we’ve heard almost every beat he’s ever produced.
