We don’t know too much yet about Queens rapper SHIRT, but WOODWORK is pretty impressive, and is assisted by a beat from DJ Shadow.

Big Shug – ‘The Reason’

Big Shug drops another track from new album Triple OGZus. The Reason features a beat from Gem Crates, and its another hard-as-nails stomper. We can’t shake the feeling though that a Big Shug track that isn’t produced by DJ Premier is always going to struggle to find much traction.

The man officially known as Jamie Meline has achieved a lot since arriving on this planet some 40 years ago today. And to mark El-P’s birthday, DJ Elwood has given us all a gift; this incredible mix of classic beats, covering everything from those grimy Company Flow days, through the Def Jux era and right up to Run the Jewels. If this is what an El-P birthday sounds like, then we reckon he should definitely consider having another birthday next year.
